DESTINATION:
JEWISH SERVICE LEARNING
What is Destination: Jewish Service Learning?

Destination: Jewish Service Learning is our way to provide an incentive for teens to try a Jewish Service Learning experience. If you are a Jewish teen who lives or goes to school in Greater MetroWest NJ and interested in service, but have never done it in a Jewish context before, or if you know a teen like this, we hope that this grant will help Bring Jewish Learning to Life for you!

The grants are
  • Programs under 14 days: $250
  • Programs 14 days and longer: Up To $800

Am I eligible?
Yes, if you…

-Are a Jewish teenager living or going to school in Greater MetroWest New Jersey.
-Have a personal commitment to social justice and civic mindedness
-Desire to participate in a program with a significant amount of hands on community service and Jewish Learning that is brought to life by these service engagements
-Agree to attend a pre-departure and a post-return meeting at the Federation in Whippany, NJ.

In order to receive a JSL grant you will need to fulfill the following requirements:
-Attend a pre-departure meeting at either our Whippany campus or the JCC in West Orange
-Attend one JTEEN U class

-Volunteer at one Jewish Service Learning event (e.g. Mitzvah Mania)
-Preference will be given towards applicants who have not participated in Jewish Service Learning programs in the past.

-What are the deadlines to apply?
Our team at JTEENgmw approves application requests (reviewing application information, letter of recommendation and interview notes) at certain rounds throughout the year.

The deadline for all applications is 30 days prior to your trip's departure.
We encourage early applications as the available funds will diminish after each round of application reviews. To apply, please click here.
